Outeniqua Farmers’ Market is now the land of honey – and berries, ice cream, bread, fish, cheese, crafts, arts, entertainment and much, much more. A quality venue offering quality products to local and international visitors every Saturday throughout the year.
The ancient name Outeniqua means ‘the land where honey comes from’. This changed when the Outeniqua Farmers’ Market opened its gates in 2011, providing a new, exciting and beautiful shopping destination in George.
The Outeniqua Farmers’ Market is located opposite the Garden Route Mall on the N2, closely nestled at the foot of the beautiful Outeniqua Mountain. Surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees, it is the ideal stop-over for everyone. The five-hectare site is home to nearly 80 food and craft stalls offering produce and goods created by local farmers and skilled craft people. From berries to bread, fish to flowers and everything in between, local residents and international visitors will find carefully selected goods to suit the most discerning tastes at reasonable prices.
The market offers something for everyone – but be warned: once you bring the kids you may find it hard to get them to leave. There are plenty of fun activities to keep them busy, like a small petting zoo, SandArt fun, pony cycles, a unique choo choo train, wooden jungle gym and much, much more.
